Robert Lee Davis
August 25, 1928 ~ May 23, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years OldRobert Lee Davis, 87, of Lumberton, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home. He was a part of the Greatest Generation and proudly entered into the Navy during WWII at the age of 17. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he went to work for Jefferson Chemical where he spent his entire career. He was a jack of all trades and could do anything. He was a faithful Christian and a longtime member of Journey Community Church. He served his community and mowed yards for widows. He was willing to do anything for anybody. He lived well, he suffered well and he died well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Davis; son, Roy Lynn Davis; sisters, Betty Skinner and Etta Lisbony.
He is survived by his loving children, Linda Tarver and husband, Bruce of Nederland, Carolyn Matlock and husband, Jimmie of Allen, TX, James Davis of Lumberton, and Jason Davis and wife Amy of Lumberton; daughter-in-law, Gloria Davis of Lynchburg, VA; brother, Roy Edward Davis of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Bryan Tarver and wife, Cheryl, Michael Tarver, Julie Ellison and husband, Sam, Becky Kizlyk and husband, John, Kelly Skillman and husband, Jason, Jordan Davis, Christina Davis and Seth Davis; great-grandchildren, Raynie Tarver, Renley Tarver, Emily Tarver, Kiley Robuck and Zach Kizlyk, Matt Kizlyk, Josh Kizlyk, Caleb Kizlyk, Katie Elliston, and special companion, Joyce.
His family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Journey Community Church of Lumberton. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jeb Airey. A private interment will follow at Davis Cemetery in Call, TX.
