After attempting to find my wonderful uncle for the past seven years via the internet, I was told my a cousin tonight that Uncle Dougie had passed away. My deepest sympathies to Aurora, David, and Denine and his other children who I did not know. Dougie was my father's younger brother and was only ten years old when I was born. He was my buddy...and once of the three schmos...Jerry, Dougie, and Pat. Dougie let me fly his wooden model airplane. He came to dinner with my family in Miami when he was with the Border Patrol during the Cuban boat lift crisis. We met again in Atlanta with Jerry and Aunt Merta and Uncle Chris and had a lovely reunion. He was a wonderful uncle and great uncle to my sons. My mother and sister (pictured with Dougie at Christmas). His mother practically raised my sister and I on the weekends. She was a wonderful mother to him and the best grandmother and great-grandmother in the world. Aurora and the kids were instant family to me. So gracious and fun. My heart bleeds for them. The photographs of his life show the joyous, handsome, loving boy and man he was. He is with his lord and is in loving arms.

I'm so sorry for your loss of husband and father. May God hold you close and comfort you in this time of grief. I'm sure Doug is resting in peace with God. Thank you for all the photos of Doug and family. It has been a very long time since I've seen him. But I tried to touch base ever year. Some photos had memories. Thank You. Sincerely Bonnie

I knew Doug first as the Handy Hardware rep for OCBM, then he later worked for us. I will always remember him smiling, and laughing. When he was dressed up he had his cowboy boots on, otherwise he had running shoes on, and ready for his next marathon. I hope you have many fond memories to cherish of him that will bring you comfort. My deepest sympathy.

My condolences to Aurora and family. Doug and I worked together for many years at Handy Hardware. We stayed in touch, as I was so fortunate to speak to him just last week. Doug loved the Lord, his wife and children and grandchildren and his church.  He was a Patriot for the U.S.A. and he loved our Freedoms and served this country Honorable. He was a true friend that I loved and will forever miss, not to mention his sense of humor. It is comforting knowing of his faith in Jesus Christ and the assurance he has of an eternity to be spent with God! Doug lived by example. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

I knew Doug when I lived in Beaumont, and at Cathedral church. He and sweet Aurora were such good friends, involved in the military outreach with me. Doug had such a big heart, and was so loyal. Even though it's been several years since I moved away, he left such an impression, such great memories of a good man, so young at heart, and loving husband. He was precious and touched many lives, including mine. Prayers and peace to the family.

Doug was a very precious friend.  We loved his cheerful and happy nature.  We grew to love him at our prayer meetings where he and Aurora came to believe God for answers to prayer for others.  He was inspiring in that he ran so many marathons over the years which shows discipline and determination.  He will be most remembered by us for his caring heart and smile.  Love, Tamia and Charlie Cooper

I was very sorry to hear of Doug's passing today.  I knew Doug through the Penguin Brigade running group, and even though we never met in person, I remember Doug as being kind and good-natured, with a good sense of humor.  My deepest sympathies to all of you in his family and among his friends and acquaintances.  May God hold you in his arms and bring you all comfort.
