Alvin Julius Bayless, Sr.

Alvin Julius Bayless, Sr., 87, of Lumberton, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. He was an easy-going man. He would help anybody and would always drop what he was doing for others. He liked to watch old westerns, MASH and Gunsmoke. He liked to garden until he couldn’t get around. Everyone called him “Pop”.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Bayless; parents, Millard and Annie Bayless; son, Alvin Julius Bayless, Jr. siblings, Winnie, Margie, Myrtle, Clyde and Alton.

He is survived by his children, Larry Dale Bayless of Oklahoma, Ronald Wayne Bayless of Lumberton, Robert Michael Bayless and wife Phyllis of Lumberton, Gary Dean Bayless and wife Dorothy of Pineland, TX, Brenda Kay McCulough; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

His family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home on Sunday March 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday March 30, 2015, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Ray McNames. Interment will follow at Leatherwood Cemetery in Lumberton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Greenwood, Frank O’Connell, William Burge, Todd Bayless, Danny Schaul and Jerry Burkett. Named as honorary pallbearer is Dan George Burge.
