Charles Ralph Wheat

Charles Ralph Wheat, 74, of Vidor, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was a native resident of Vidor but was lead to move to Lufkin in 1985. After many rewarding years in running a family owned business, he moved back to Vidor to be closer to family. He loved people! If he joked with you, he liked you. Not only was a man of great character he was a man lead by his faith.  He knew the Bible back and forth. He read it daily and taught it to anyone willing to listen for a moment.  His love of God was expressed in every word. He had a faithful loving wife, Jean, who followed him wherever he was lead to go. Even if it lead them to the Trade Days. In their later years, they enjoyed selling peanuts, Louisiana cane syrup, jellies and jams across the circuit. He met a lot of friends, told a lot of jokes and spread the word of God as often as he could. He was loved by many but cherished by those who called him husband, Dad, and PawPaw most!

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Wheat; son, Charles Odos “Odie” Wheat and brother, Bruce Wheat.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Jean Wheat of Vidor; son, Calvin Wheat and wife Rene; daughter, Charla Jean Wheat and Michael Arnold of Hunnington, TX; grandchildren, T.J. Wheat and wife Morgan, Sheena Wilburn and fiancée Jamie, D’anna Braggs and husband Andy, Matt Wheat and wife Lacey, Kaitlyn LaBel and husband Chris and Olivia Spradley; great-grandchildren, Thomas Wheat, Carson LaBel, Emilee and Gunner Wilburn, Brylee and Blakely Wheat.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday June 24, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home From 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral Service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2015 at Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin, officiated by Bro. Charles Roberts. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Okun, Mike Johnson, Greg Bagwell, John West, Claude David Woodrome, Mark Okun, Guy Okun and Ralph Okun.
