Yvonne Havens Gallien, age 86, of Beaumont, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beaumont, Texas. Yvonne was born August 22, 1936 in Magnolia Springs, Texas to John and Mattie (Wright) Havens.
Yvonne was first and foremost a mother and grandmother. She and J.L. never missed a sporting event, band concert, school play, or any event where a Gallien child was involved. She was famous for cheering loudly from the sideline, her world-class French toast and family 4th of July celebrations. She was also a strong Texas woman and was very proud of her family’s pioneering Texas roots. She was a 5th generation Texan and was happy to share her family history with anyone who would listen. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, J.L. Gallien; and her youngest son, Rodney Gallien. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Gallien; son, Gary Gallien and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Hunter Gallien and wife, Megan, Katharine Winn and husband, Dayton, Madison Gallien, Matthew Gallien, Sheridan Gallien; and soon to be great granddaughter, Caroline Yvonne Winn.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023 beginning at 2:00p.m. at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Magnolia Springs, Texas. The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to all of Yvonne’s caregivers at Calder Woods, Summer Place, and Best Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown toward Yvonne and our entire family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Texas, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
