William “Bill” Inan Barnett, age 96, of Beaumont, TX passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023. He was born in Rochelle, TX, on December 5, 1926, to Roy Calhoun and Leah Stuckey Barnett.
Barnett’s Fried Pies was the family business. Bill took it on when his mother retired in the 1960’s. He maintained it until 1973, when he retired and started a new business in Gilchrist, TX, Barnett’s Cabins. Bill was quite the fisherman, gardener, and cook who loved his family and was much loved in returned.
Left to honor his memory are his sons, Ricky Barnett and wife, Diane, of Beaumont, TX, and Bobby Prewitt, of Vidor, TX; daughters, Peggy Collins, and, Bert Rummery, of Vidor, TX, Laurie Wisenbaker, of Beaumont, TX, Opal Aiden, of Hornbeck, LA, and Doris Prewitt, of Vidor, TX; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his wife Opal Ray Barnett; second wife, Lillie Prewitt; son, Billy Ray Barnett; brothers, John Barnett, Roy Barnett, and Jamie Barnett; and sisters, Iris Moore, and Mary Roy.
Bill's life honoring graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Franks Branch Cemetery with Pastor Clifton Rankin officiating.
