Wanda Joyce (Reeves) Ling, 77, of Beaumont, TX passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Wanda was born in Bon Wier, TX on January 23, 1943 to Eldon and Ruth Reeves. The true essence of love, joy, and a true friend, she spent her life taking care of those she knew. Anyone who knew Wanda knew that whether you had known her for 5 minutes, or your whole life, you knew she treated everyone around her with respect and kindness. Wanda looked at everyone the same no matter their flaws or attributes; that was part of the magic in being around her. From a young age Wanda lived a life full of people and love, growing up one of six children she learned the value and importance of family early in life. Starting with her first position with JC Penny’s in 1978 working in Custom Decorating, Wanda found what would be her life calling working with drapery. Just 2 years later, Wanda opened her Drapery Shop in Vidor, becoming the go-to person for drapery in the area. In 2010 her beautiful shop reopened in Beaumont as C&C Drapery. The attention to detail and love of creating beauty for others was as evident in her work as it was her passion and love for her family. Her children were the light of her life until her grandchildren came along just expanding the thing Wanda loved the most- her family. She was the most loving mother, to anyone who needed one, not just her own children. Wanda was an amazing cook- despite not actually enjoying cooking- and she was infamous for her banana pudding that was at every family gathering and any occasion she could find a reason to bring food for. Despite it not being a favorite pastime, if Wanda knew you loved a dish in particular she was sure to show up with that cooked to perfection! Family time was a huge part of Wanda’s life, and there was little she liked more than having everyone together. It was known that anytime Wanda could assembly all her “Ling-Lings” they should expect a time of laughter, joy, love and fun- with a giant breakfast spread included as well. Laughter was a constant around Wanda, she loved to laugh at all situations and find any way to bring levity and joy to a situation. Truth be told- there was little in life that Wanda couldn’t laugh at or about and she’d happily share a moment of joy with you anytime she could over a pot of coffee. To live a life like Wanda all you need to do is remember to love deeply, laugh often, never sweat the small stuff, and keep your family close. It doesn’t matter if you called her Wanda, Mom, Grandma, Maw-Maw, Wunner, G-Ma, Great Gran, or Aunt Wanda- because to know Wanda was to know pure love and joy and she will be deeply missed by all.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Deborah Fetherlin of Beaumont, Judy Callaway of Lumberton, Lori Lewis and husband Johnny of Vidor, and Rita Ling of Fort Worth; her son, Jerry Ling and wife Paula of Vidor; her brother, Donnie Reeves and wife Ann; her sisters: Sherry Reeves and husband Johnny, Betty Sue Alston and husband Gilbert, and Patsy Zoch; her sister-in-law, Cherry Reeves; her grandchildren: Brandon McKenney, Randall McKenney and significant other Megan Klein, Sarah McKenney, Christie Cooper, Jonathan Lewis, Marshall Ling, Madison Ling; her great-grandchildren: William, Mollie, Ashlynn, Blake, Caleb, Gavin and Izzy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Ruth Reeves, and her brother, Ronald Reeves.
