Wanda Beth (Rutter) Janis

Wanda Beth Janis, 85, of Kountze passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Born November 6, 1934 in Houston, TX

Wanda was a quick witted woman with an easy smile. She spent the bulk of her career working for Gulf States Utilities as an Administrative Assistant and upon her retirement began to enjoy a slower paced life. Spending most of her time with her family or working on her beloved yard, Wanda could be found playing games like Scrabble and 42 when yard work wasn't an option.

She is preceded in death by her father Noel Freeman, mother Bessie Ruth Freeman, and her daughter Karen Grace Janis. 

She is survived by her sister Donna Brown; her two sons, Doug Janis and John Janis; her two daughters, Kathryn Meyer and husband Dan; Wanda Forrest and husband Mike; her five grandchildren, Misty Short and husband Le, Shawn Meyer, Amber Connelly, Ashley Meyer, and Jordan Janis; and her four great-grandchildren, Savannah, Mason, Jackson, and Grace Short. 

The family will have a Memorial Service for Wanda on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church of Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Dementia Society of America.
