Walter Wright Obituary

Walter Bernard Wright, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born on May 15, 1939, in Port Arthur, TX, to Bernard William and Versie Rountree Wright.

Kind and generous, his dedication to others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Walter believed in speaking well of others and consistently gave beyond what was expected. He was a good father, a loving husband, and a good man. Walter approached life with an easygoing attitude, often reminding those around him, "Don't sweat the small stuff, when everything's small stuff." He was gregarious, making many friends, and prioritized time with his family. He was a country boy at heart. Growing up close with his siblings in a two-bedroom home, they all shared the same room, fostering deep bonds. His parents kept cows on their land, and Walter was actively involved in FFA, showing cows. He met his beloved wife Lidia through corresponding as pen pals for nearly two years. Their love blossomed when they finally met, leading to their marriage on November 17, 1985. Walter and Lidia built a life together filled with love and happiness. In his career as an attorney, Walter treated his clients with kindness, seeing them as more than just clients. His general practice spanned various areas of law, including criminal, immigration, and real estate, always driven by a genuine desire to help others. Walter's legacy is one of unwavering kindness, dedication, and a profound love for his family. His only regret in life was wishing he could have helped more people, often reminding his family of a simple, yet profound precept, "The Lord will provide." He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.

Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife, Lidia Wright; sons, Walter Bernard Wright Jr. and Eric Matthew Wright; daughters, Suzanne Elaine Wright and Katherine Ashley Wright and husband, Nicholas Schulte; brother, Thomas Wright and Howard Wright and wife, Janice; grandchildren, Grant “Buckshot” Schulte, Ronan Josserand Wright, and Carys Elenor; the mother of his first two children, Janis Grossman; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Walter in death are his parents and brother, Kenneth Wright.
