Mrs. Veta (Bailey) Goodwin, 95, of Beaumont, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, while under the compassionate care of the staff at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home of Vidor and Best Hospice. Veta was born the oldest of five children to Tommy Bailey and Delia (Johnson) Bailey in Pitkin, Louisiana on Wednesday, October 20, 1926.
Veta was a strong and kind woman who never met a stranger; her ability to engage in conversation with anyone around her was one of her best talents. When given the opportunity, Veta loved to help others and truly enjoyed doting on her nieces and nephews. A joyful and outgoing person, Veta enjoyed laughing and making those around her smile. Composed and always put together “just so”, Veta could always remind you of a better era long passed by. Her heart for the Lord makes her homecoming in Heaven all the sweeter as her loved ones here know she is not suffering or hurting but rejoicing with her Jesus. While she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the memories and heart of those she knew and loved.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Rovera Feaster, and numerous nieces, nephews, 2 step-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends through the many years.
Veta is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Leroy Goodwin; her parents, Tommy Bailey and Delia (Johnson) Bailey; and her siblings: John Clemons Bailey, Vera Johnson, and Lathey Bailey.
To honor Veta’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date to lay her to rest beside her husband Robert.
