Tim Droddy Sr.

Robert "Tim" Timothy Droddy Sr., 73, went to meet Jesus peacefully with his daughter Joni at his bedside. Tim was born on August 26, 1946 in Vidor, TX to Earl Lee Droddy Sr. and Rosey Ann (Berry) Droddy. A long time resident of the Vidor area, Tim had deep ties to the community he loved and his church home of East Gate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor. Family was a central focus for Tim throughout his life and he was blessed with a long and loving marriage wife, Rita Sue (Smith) Droddy. Rita and Tim had 4 children together, but Tim was a father figure to many and gladly helped raise many who called him "Daddy". A good welder who was passionate about his job, Tim provided well for his family. In the free time he managed to find, Tim gladly spent it with his family and friends occasionally entertaining them with music as he loved to write songs and sing with his family. He was a wonderful man that was loved and respected by all who knew him. Over the course of his life, Tim took a lot of pride in his various names and roles- an attentive and loving father, the best grandfather, and a fun great-grandfather.  Tim will be missed for his many strong characteristics and attributes, for his beautiful smile and for the lasting mark he left on those who knew him.

Left to cherish Tim's memory are his children, daughter Becky Dee-Cornelius and husband Randy, son Robert Timothy Droddy Jr., daughter Joni Jo Droddy; his son-in-law T.J. Pearson; his brother Earl Lee Droddy Jr.; his sister, Evelyn Thibodeaux; his grandchildren, Tommy James Pearson Jr. and wife Nikki, Dara Delaine Pearson, Robert Timothy Droddy III and wife Taylor, Naomi Pickard and husband Preston; his 17 great-grandchildren and a host of church family members, friends, and extended relatives.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Lee Droddy Sr., and Rosey Ann (Berry) Root; his wife Rita Sue (Smith) Droddy; his sisters, Darlene Droddy Cancienne and Earlene Droddy; and his daughter, Jody Delaine Droddy.

In the last few years of his life, Tim was blessed to be in the gentle care of Vidor Health and Rehabilitation, where was very loved and spoiled by every worker there and treated like family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers who made Tim's life easier those last few years.

To honor the life of Robert "Tim" Timothy Droddy Sr., a visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, at East Gate United Pentecostal Church, 290 South St, Vidor, TX 77662. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at East Gate United Pentecostal Church, 290 South St, Vidor, TX 77662 . Internment w ill be at Old Hardin Cemetery, Old Cemetery Rd, Kountze, TX 77625, at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
