Thomas Albert Brown

On September 30, 2025, Thomas Albert Brown went to be with our lord and savior Jesus Christ, whom he has loved and served faithfully his entire 91 years.

Tom was born on September 1st, 1934, as the fifth of six children to Edith Malone Hill and George Esbert Brown, Sr. who lived in Beaumont, TX. Tom graduated from Beaumont High School in 1952. Then, on February 20th, 1953, he married the love of his life Betty Marie Andrus. Tom and Betty were married for 72 years and would go on to have one daughter Joy and a granddaughter Laura. 

Right after graduating high school, Tom joined the navy to serve his country. He served from 1952-1960 both in the United States and overseas as well. After his time in the Navy, he began his life’s work for Texaco, Pt. Arthur, in the brick-laying department. Using the skills he learned there, he would design and build patios in the homes where he and his wife, Betty, lived. He continued at Texaco, advancing to the Safety Department as the Training Supervisor until his retirement at almost 60 years old. He was also a member of the board of Texaco and served as a committee member. Even after retiring, he stayed active in the oil industry by speaking at several venues in the Houston-Beaumont area as a guest speaker. Tom represented Texaco honorably throughout his tenure.

Tom has had a love for music since a young age. He sang in the high school choir as a tenor and enjoyed playing his trumpet in the high school orchestra.

Tom was a Deacon at Sabine Tabernacle and served the lord faithfully. He was a dedicated Christian servant and was a member of the Sabine Tabernacle since he was just seven years old. He began to use his music ministry in the church from a young age starting with playing his trumpet in the church orchestra. Tom and his wife Betty would then lead the music at the church for many years. Tom was song leader for about 40 years and sang solos, duets with his wife Betty while she played the piano and also sang with the men’s quartet and couples quartet. Tom would also occasionally sing on Brother Hodges radio program as a young man. Tom and Betty would go on to lead the young people of the church and teach younger generations for many years. 

Tom was a kind hearted soul. He had a heart after God and a heart after people. He was always the first to offer to lend a hand to someone even if it was a complete stranger. He loved his family and his church family at Sabine Tabernacle. His ministry and good heart have impacted so many lives. And that ministry and love will continue to carry on long after he has gone on to heaven. 

Tom is survived by his granddaughter, Laura Brown Valle and her husband, Alexie Valle; his sister, Betty Ann Brown; his sister-in-law, Antoinette (Toni) Brown; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded to Heaven by his parents, George and Edith Brown; his wife, Betty and daughter, Joy; his brothers, George and Bill Brown; his sisters, Mary Etta Dixon and Edith Marie McIntosh; niece, Barbara Blankenship; and nephew, Joe McIntosh.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Sabine Tabernacle, 1065 Hazel St. Beaumont, TX 77701. Life honoring funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Sabine Tabernacle with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery.
