Susie Victoria Womack, age 77, of Lumberton, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was born in Lecompte, LA, on April 26, 1946, and raised by her parents, Zenious William Clark, and Gladys Smith Clark.
Strong-willed and hardworking, it was rare to see her staying still; she liked to stay busy and productive. She was entrepreneurial, working many jobs to help provide for her sons and her family. For Susie it was simple, she knew two great Kings: the one and only King of Kings, Jesus Christ, and Elvis Aaron Presley. Her faith in the Lord was fundamental and integral to who she was, molding her heart as a believer. She loved her church and the ladies’ group that included some of her friends, devoting herself to mission trips, Bible study, and fellowship. At the wedding feast at Cana, Jesus performed his first recorded miracle by turning water into wine, and it was alleged that Susie and some ladies from a church group would, on occasion, honor this event with a toast. And it is not known if there was ever a single movie featuring or starring Elvis that she had not seen. The weather was a big deal, and she often would call to check on her boys to make sure they were safe from any storms. Their safety was always a concern, even during times of discipline. As a loving mother, she kept her son’s heads on their shoulders, for accompanying any boyish childhood mishap, Susie would warn that repeating the incident would get “their head chopped off!”. As a mother and loving “Grandma, she believed in her children and grandchildren; she encouraged them; and she always reminded them of her support, by urging “Ya’ll can do anything that you set your mind to.” As she passed from this life, she will be missed for her spirit and the blessing that she was to all that knew her and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jay Deville and wife, Kimberly, and eight children, Jordan and wife, Aubrey with daughter Micah, Jessica and husband, Peleg with daughter Meilani, Emily and husband, Mateu, Jayme and husband, Tanner with daughter Jessi, Noah and wife Michaela, Wesley, Isaac, and Vallie of Kountze, TX; Garrison Heath Deville of Webster, TX, and children, Matthew, Victoria and brother Ian; stepson, Patrick Womack of Humble, TX, and children, Patrick, and Preston; grandchildren, Amy, Katie, and Cole; sister, Theresa Baldwin and husband, Richard; as well as many extended family members, friends, and loved ones.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Tony Lee Womack; and stepdaughter, Becky Womack Bice.
Susie’s life honoring memorial service will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Lumberton, with Pastor Kyle Warren officiating.
