Steve "Poppy" Block Obituary

Mr. Steven Carson Block, 67, of Vidor, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Steve was born on Friday, January 14, 1955, in Port Arthur, Texas to Mr. Louis Leon Block and Mrs. Doris Bertha (Richard) Block. Steve grew up and spent his life here in the Southeast Texas area that he loved so much.

A man with one driving focus in life- his family, Steve or “Poppy” as he was best known, loved to be with his family and friends. Devoted to his beloved wife Christy, Steve and Christy spent more than 32 years together building the legacy of family and love that you see today in their family. A hard worker and proud man, Steve was a paramedic for 25 years before retiring to spend more time with Christy and working in his beloved workshop building chairs, gliders, and many other things. Steven loved to be at home and if you knew him you knew his home was always open to anyone who wanted to be there. Steve was truly an amazing man who leaves behind an example of devotion to family that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Christy (Weaver) Block; his children: Timothy Smith and wife Nicole, Crystal Pachuca and husband Joe, BJ Smith and wife Ann, and April Smith and significant other PJ; Talanna Ceara and John Smith, who Steve loved like his own children; his siblings: Beverly Duhon, Donna Leverett and husband Harry, Tammy Jackson, and Richie Cooper and wife Ruth; his grandchildren: Kaiden Hopes and wife Gracie, Nataley Smith, Morgan Hopes, Landon Smith, JC Marshall, Grace Garcia, Dallas Pachuca, Jordan Smith, Faith Smith, Brelynn Moore, and Ariana Ceara; his great-grandchildren: Asher, Violet, and Maverick; and numerous friends, loved ones, and extended family members through the years.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Wayne Block, Russell Block, and Curt Block.

To honor Steve’s life a time of visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Pine Forest Baptist Church (4800 N Main St, Vidor, TX 77662). Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Pine Forest Baptist Church (4800 N Main St, Vidor, TX 77662). Steve will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral services at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be JC Marshall, Jordan Smith, Kaiden Hopes, Morgan Hopes, Dallas Pachuca, and Jonathan Smith, with Landon Smith serving as an honorary pallbearer.
