Steve Beard Obituary

Steve Lancen Beard, age 72, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1952, in Beaumont, TX, to Jack Lynn and Dorothy Walker Beard.

A man of remarkable strength and gentle spirit, he was as tough as he was tender, a fighter who fiercely protected those he held dear. Steve was a jack of all trades; a brilliant cook, talented mechanic, skilled welder, and even an exceptional dancer known for his signature move that could cut a rug. His boundless curiosity and versatility allowed him to excel in nearly every endeavor he pursued. Married to his beloved Libby on December 31, 2004, Steve’s devotion to family was as unwavering as his commitment to his crafts. He was the kind of person who would go above and beyond for anyone; his children and grandchildren felt the warmth of his care, and his close friends cherished his loyal companionship. Even his furry friends—from the cherished pet cats and dogs to the playful squirrels that visited his yard—benefited from his loving attention. An avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, Steve found solace on the water. A dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan (with the occasional nod to the Houston Texans), he loved to watch football. Steve leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered: a man who balanced toughness with tenderness, who celebrated every aspect of life, and who made those around him feel cherished and loved. His journey on this earth may have ended, but his legacy continues.

Left to honor his memory is his wife, Olivia “Libby” Beard; daughters, Stephanie “Beav Jr.” Tidwell and husband, Jason, and Melissa Delarosa and husband, Jeremy; step-sons, Robert Furman and wife, Blaire, and Glenn Durham and wife, Katie; brother, Ted Beard and wife, Debbie; sisters, Anne Smith and husband, Richard, Tina Jorden, Angie Rone, and Candy Gross and husband, John; sisters-in-law, Holley Beard, Cynthia O'Keefe and husband, Mike, and Jenny Hagerty; brother in law, Eddie Johnson; grandchildren, Jadyn Tidwell, Breanna Berryhill, Aubree Hitchcock, Nicholas Furman, Zachary Furman, Emily Durham, and Grace Durham; 6 cats, a dog, and some yard squirrels; as well as a host of family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Steve in death are his parents; brother, Clint Beard; and sister, Jan Johnson.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the devoted staff at Harbor Hospice whose kindness, care, and support brought comfort and peace during this time. Your presence made an immeasurable difference, and we are forever grateful.
