Shirley V. (Norton) McLain

Shirley Virginia McLain, 83, of Vidor, Texas went home to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, June 30, 2018.  Shirley was born on February 17, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Freddie and Ida Belle Norton.  Shirley graduated from Vidor High School and then received training as a Radiology Technician; she would retire from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where she worked as a Radiology Technician for 39 years.  Shirley was outgoing, caring, loving and self-sacrificing.  She was a terrific mother, and a wonderful grandmother.  She volunteered her time and energy at the United Christian Care Center in Vidor, and as a member of the Kitchen Team at 1st Baptist Church in Vidor.  Shirley was a member of TOPS #TX345 of Vidor, and the Red Hat Society.  She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Ida Belle Norton; her loving husband of 48 years, Lester McLain; and a brother, Doyle Norton.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Summer Fregia, and husband, Wayne, of Orange, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Brett, Faith, and Caleb, of Orange, Texas; 2 sisters, Patsy Clark, and husband, Tommy, of Hemphill, Texas, and Cecile Webb, of Vidor, Texas; a brother, Robert Norton, and wife, Linda, of Vidor, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 9:00am to 10am at 1st Baptist Church of Vidor, 350 N. Main St., Vidor, Texas.   Funeral Services Honoring the Life of Shirley V. McLain will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Vidor.  Interment will follow immediately at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2725 N. Main St., Vidor, Texas.
