Sherral Oliphant Obituary

Sherral Jane Rigmaiden Oliphant, 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Sherral was born October 19, 1937 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to Montie Jane Foster Rigmaiden and Alford Rigmaiden. Growing up one of eight children, Sherral always had a deep love for family.

Sherral’s life was one full of love and devotion. Devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ, devotion to husband of 63 years, devotion to their only daughter, and devotion to her church family and service there. Sherral was talented in many ways, and with a servant’s heart chose to use many of those talents for others. From cooking in any capacity she could for her church or family, to being a seamstress for most of her life and lovingly clothing her whole family and even making wedding dresses for others. It is not a leap to say that Sherral used her talents for the Lord. A truer example of a devoted wife and mother would be hard to find; Sherral was faithful and full of faith to her core, truly embodying the Proverbs 31 Woman. Her faith led her to share her love, her talents, and her wisdom with many over the years and her example of love and devotion will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Donna Pitman and husband Jimmy of Vidor; her brothers, Shelby Rigmaiden of Longview, Thomas Rigmaiden and wife Phillis of Westlake; her granddaughter, Ashley Morgan and husband Kevin of Bridge City; her great-grandson, Franco Yates Morgan of Bridge City.

Sherral was preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Montie Foster Rigmaiden; her husband, Sidney Oliphant; her siblings, Esco Rigmaiden, A.R. Rigmaiden, Betty Cooley, Blanche Collins, Bethel Royer, Eugenia (Dimp) Witcher, and Janis Rigmaiden.
