Sheila Faye Cahanin, age 63, of Silsbee, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. She was born on November 7, 1962, in Winnie, TX.
She lived with a fierce and generous heart. To know her was to know someone loving, protective, and devoted to those she loved. She moved with a spirit that was both tender and headstrong; it made her unforgettable to everyone blessed enough to be part of her life. As a mother, Sheila worked tirelessly, sometimes holding down two or even three jobs at a time, yet she made sure that she was there. Her children always knew that she was, cheering them on, guiding them, and standing by their side. If someone she loved needed help, Sheila was the first one to show up. There was no quit in her. She could make you laugh, she could bring you to tears, and she could fuss at you, if needed. To her grandchildren, she was “Grandma Sheila” or “Minnie,” a source of comfort and affection. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sheila loved the outdoors and had a remarkable green thumb. Plants that seemed beyond saving would spring back to life in her care. A woman of faith, Sheila lived as a Christian, with sincerity and humility. She did her best each day, guided by love, compassion, and a desire to do right by others. Though she is gone, her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she made will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, James Graham and husband, Curtis of Manuel, TX and Jason Conner and wife, Tracy of Vidor, TX; daughter, Jamie Johnson of Lumberton, TX; partner, J. Robbins; sisters, Trenda Eubanks and husband, Glenn of Fred, TX, Lisa Hackbarth and husband, Steve of Lewisville, TX, and Sherry Love and husband, Stacy of Cuero, TX; grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Kastyn Johnson, Holden Conner, Christopher “Bubba” Waguspack, Gracelyn Waguspack, and Lillian Conner; best friend, Mary Conner; her two beloved dogs, Ruby and Dolly; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
