Sadie Jamail Lynch Robinson Gandy was born in Shelbyville, Texas on October 7, 1937, to Rufus E. and Johnnie B. (English) Lynch. She grew up in Mauriceville, Texas, where she played basketball and graduated from Mauriceville High School. She soon met and married Carl Edward (Eddie) Robinson in 1957. They built a life in Crystal Beach, Texas operating Swedes Store with their family from 1959 until 1982.
Sadie spent the middle years of her life as a caregiver. In 1985 she moved to Silsbee, Texas, and would first care for Eloise Branham (Eddie's aunt) until her death. Then in 1991, she would care for Eddie for 9 years after he suffered a stroke and died in 2000.
Sadie met and married her soul mate Don Gandy in 2006 when he came to help with repairs from Hurricane Rita. Sadie and Don spent the next 18 years in love and happily traveling and eventually ending up in the Hill Country. Sadie died on September 20 after never fully recovering from a serious fall the day before Thanksgiving in 2022.
Sadie was a strong woman who loved reading her Bible and enjoyed Gospel music. Sadie loved gardening - both flowers and vegetables. She would spend all day outside if she could. She also loved collecting cookbooks and was known for her chicken and dumplings.
She especially loved her family and shared a close relationship with both of her children- Dale and Deanna. She always served as a room mother for both her children and attended as many of their numerous school events as she could. She was a wonderful mother.
Her other interests included Beta Sigma Phi in which she was a member for many years. She also loved her Thursday meetings of the Beauty Shop girls. She also was an avid deer hunter who later became a deer lover and preferred to just watch and feed them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her parents, Rufus and Johnnie Lynch; her brother, Reeves Lynch; her sister, Francis Ming; and her son, Dale Robinson.
She is survived by her husband, Don Gandy of Silsbee; her daughter, Deanna Tally and her husband Glenn of Silsbee, her sister-in-law Jan Wilson and husband Russ of Silsbee; grandchildren Justin Tally and his wife Rachel of Silsbee; Ross Robinson and wife Krystal of Katy, Texas; Reagan Robinson of Houston and Zach Robinson of Nacogdoches and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 30 at Silsbee Methodist Church. Visitation at 9:00 with the service at 9:30.
