Ruth Ellen Ayers, age 67, of Lumberton, TX, passed from this life on Friday, September 27, 2024. She was born in Louisville, KY, on September 9, 1957, to Clyde and Hellon Carver.
Loving and caring, she was bright, bringing light to a room with her warmth, quick wit, and smile. She lived her life to the edification of others; she wanted to make any around her happy. A blessed and talented cook, her baking skills were widely known and appreciated by her family and community. Through Cowboy spaghetti, apple pies, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and some secret family recipes, one thing was certain after a taste, this lady could cook. It brought her great satisfaction to see the smiles her homemade treats would endear. She met and forever joined her heart to the love of her life, Levi, cementing their love on March 11, 1980. Their love blessed them with three children. They brought harmony through a simple set of unbendable rules: Levi cleaned, and Ruth cooked; regardless of its intended destination, if there was food in the house, Levi was allowed to eat it; and a few other simple guidelines, especially concerning football season. They never hollered or fought, they only loved. Throughout any period of life, there was one constant for Ruth, love. Her memory will forever live on in the lives she touched.
Left to honor her memory is her beloved husband, James Levi Ayers; son, Tyrel Ayers; daughters, Rachel Ayers and Stacey Ayers; grandson, Reuben Figueroa and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
Preceding Ruth in death are her parents.
