Ronny Smith

Mr. Ronald "Ronny" Lee Smith, 71, of Buna, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Ronny was born in Vidor on Wednesday, June 14, 1950, to John Lucius Smith and Mary Lee Welborn. One of five children, Ronny grew up knowing the importance of family- and that was a tenant he carried through his entire life. Loving his wife of more than 52 years, Allene, dearly- they were blessed with one son and later a grandchild that meant the world to her Papa. Ronny met Allene when his love of sporting around in his ’52 Chevrolet along “the drag” off 11th Street caught her eye! A hard worker above all else, Ronny was capable of doing almost anything. He was a machinist by trade but loved to work on drag race cars with his son and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the tri-county area that hadn’t had their drag car motor rebuilt by Ronny! Ronny never met a challenge he couldn’t overcome, and really could just “make it happen”. A cowboy at heart, Ronny was rarely seen without his hat, and loved his show mules like family; he and Allene travelled all over showing his prize-winning mules. When he wasn’t working on his cars or showing his beloved mules, Ronny loved to fish- especially with his friends and family. Ronny was a man you could depend on, a problem solver and good friend capable of giving great counsel to his friends when called upon. Ronny’s legacy and memory will not soon be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Allene Smith; his son, Ronny Smith and wife Tara; his granddaughter, Madison Smith; and his sisters, Lexine Marks, and Legatha Lukenbill.

Ronny was preceded in death by his parents, John Lucius Smith and Mary Lee Welborn; his brother, John Charles Smith; and his sister, Margie Smith.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m at Trout Creek Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Ronny will be laid to rest following the service at Trout Creek Cemetery.
