Ronald Gene Measel, 81, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on February 18, 2020. He was born in Wilmar, Arkansas to Arthur and Mary Sue Measel on May 2, 1938.
Ronald was a kind-hearted and good man who loved the Lord. Family meant the world to him. He was a “Pop” that especially adored his precious grandbabies and great grandbabies. One of Ronalds’s favorite things was to sit down and enjoy a western, subtitled action movie or watch wrestling on T.V. He loved to dance and surely knew his way around a dance floor. Though originally born in Arkansas, he was a proud Texas transplant and called it his home. Everything Ronald set his mind to was done with his whole heart. He served in the United States Air Force for many years and was very proud of his service to his Country. Later in life, he retired from the U.S Postal Service and went to work with the local water company which soon became a source of entertaining stories for all those who knew him. The impact and mark that he left on the lives and hearts of so many will not soon be forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sonya Villanoueva of Lumberton, TX and Mary Silvernail of Silsbee, TX; his son, Michael Measel of Lumberton, TX; brother, David Measel, of West Monroe, LA; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren along with many other family and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Audra Measel, and sister-in-law Kay Measel.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ross Measel, Lane Webster, Randall Jones, Corey Stark, Thomas Measel, Carter Measel, Jeff Cysewski, Davis Villanoueva, and Brandon Marks.
To honor Ronald's life, a visitation will be Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main Street, Lumberton, Texas 77657. A memorial service will follow and begin at 12:00pm.
