Ronald Aaron Higgins, age 65, of Vidor, Texas passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. He was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on July 27, 1957, to Aaron Higgins and Virde McAfee.
Walking along a riverbed, a special rock often catches the eye. Shaped by flowing time and weather, its uniqueness turns an ordinary stone into something remarkable. Ronald was such a rock, and to describe him as unique would do him an injustice. He was a helper, filled with love and compassion; this showed in his work, his relationships, and his faith. Ronald Higgins was the funniest person that he knew, or quite possibly that he had ever met. To know him was to know laughter, often mainly from him, but it was impossible not to laugh along with him. He was personable, easy going, and got along with just about everyone. Ronald always parted with “Love you”, not out of habit, but because he did love, deeply and unconditionally. As he passed from this life, Heaven became a little more special, as the Lord welcomed one of his sons home.
Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife, Tricia Hanson Higgins, of Vidor, TX; sons, Brett Higgins, of Vidor, TX, and Jason Higgins and wife, Jennifer, of Vidor, TX; daughter, Amy Garcia and husband, Elias Jr., of Beaumont, TX; brother, Mike Higgins and wife, Tina; sisters, Donna Wilcox and husband, Larry, of Vidor, TX, and Kathie Prosperie, of Lumberton, TX; sister-in-law, Brandi Lavergne and husband, Brad, of Vidor, TX; brothers-in-law, Trent Hanson and wife Natalie, Tony Hanson and wife, Miranda; grandchildren, Alyssa, Addison, Connor, Landon, and Grayson; childhood and life-long friend, Billy Simmons; sister-in-law, Pat Higgins; as well as a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Higgins; and childhood and life-long friends, Dennis Haley and Lynn Simmons.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church. Ronald’s life honoring memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Lakeview Baptist Church, with Bro. Jim Garcia officiating. Ronald will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park.
