Roger Hobbs Obituary

Roger L “Paw” Hobbs, 79, passed away peacefully at his residence in Kountze on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Roger was born in Logan, West Virginia on December 4, 1941 to Thomas Hobbs and Irene Jenelous.

One of four children, Roger grew up knowing the meaning and value of family. Finally making it to Texas, where he would happily raise his family, Roger moved here in 1962 with the love of his life. Roger and Thearline were married for more than 51 years and were blessed to have three daughters to raise and love. Roger was an amazing father to his girls, always there with his trademark mischievous grin to support, encourage, cheer on, and guide them throughout their lives and the adventures for them as they transitioned from daughters to mothers to grandmothers. This proud “Paw” as he was most often called, loved his grand babies and great grand babies just as much as his girls as they came along. Always busy doing something, you might have known Roger as a trickster, storyteller and even sometimes a pot-stirrer; but you would also have known his as the honest and kind man who would offer anyone a hand and some advice on how to fix the circumstances. Roger’s talent did not stop with his hard-earned reputation as a pipe fitter dedicated to his work and providing for his family but can be seen easily in the beautiful wood working projects and loving help with projects that he was always willing to help with. Roger’s heart of gold will be deeply missed by all those who knew him, and by his family in particular. His legacy of hard work, love, and family about all will never be lost.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cheryl Gore, Brenda and husband Terry Smith, Donna and husband Chris Martinez; his brother, Eugene Hobbs and wife Linda; his sister, Shirley Sherk; his grandchildren, Jeremy Smith and wife Audrey, Ashley Holland and husband Forrest, Amanda Burns and husband Brandon, Zack Gore, Matthew Woodward and wife Audrey, Lacey Martin and husband Cody, Kailee Reagan and husband Trevor; his great-grandchildren, Branson and Colben Smith, Rylee, Hydee, and Baylee Holland, Hannah, Rachel, and Sarah Burns, Aden, Siera, Hunter, McKenzi, and Rae-lynn Woodward, Caden, Marah, and Adalee Martin, Julie and Bentlee Reagan.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Thearline Hobbs; his son, Roger Wayne Hobbs; and his brother, Carl Hobbs.
