Mr. Robert “Bob” Newell Morgan, 86, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at home. Bob was truly a great man- a good father and grandfather, and a loving husband. Bob was born on Monday, June 10, 1935, in Denison, TX to his parents, Newell Cecil "N.C." Morgan and Evelyn Katherine (McDonald) Morgan. Bob grew up in a loving family and was baptized at Lamar Baptist in his youth. Just before graduating from South Park High School, Bob met Andi for the first time, and it was truly love at first sight for him. After graduating, Bob went into the US Army where he served as a Staff Sargent and loved being stationed in Japan while in the service. On March 7, 1958, Bob and Andi married and were soon blessed with their daughter, Robin and then their son, Tracy. While being a loving father and husband, Bob also pursued his passion for drafting and spent 34 years with the Texas Highway Department until his retirement in 1992. Bob always said he was “grateful for having such a loving and giving family of relatives surrounding him, so many great and loving friends all of his life, and loving neighborhood kids”.
Bob lost Andi in December of 2001, after more than 43 years of marriage, love, and memories. Bob was lucky enough to get a second chance at love when he met Sue sometime later after losing Andi and was always grateful to Sue’s family for their acceptance of him and their love. Sue was what Bob referred to as his “second blessing in life,” and he often commented that not many people are lucky enough to have had 2 great women in their lives. Bob loved spending time with his family above all else, he was an avid sports fan and loved his Astros! Bob’s life was full of many memories, much kindness, and all the love anyone could hope for; his legacy will not soon be forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robin and Tracy, and their families; his friend and partner, Sue; and a lifetime worth of friends, extended family, and loved ones.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Andra Lee (Jones) Morgan, and his parents.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Bob's life honoring funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Lumberton Family Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville following.
