Mr. Richard Lee Ohler, 75, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Richard was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on December 15, 1945, to Harry Ohler and Elois Viergutz.
Richard was truly a man who tried to live life to the fullest. Spending more than 20 years as the “Little Debbie Man” delivering sweet treats to local vendors, Richard was also the head draftsman at Vulcraft Steel for many years. When not working you could find him spending his free time pursuing his many hobbies. He loved to bowl and spent many years playing for bowling leagues, even winning a few championships along the ways. Richard also loved to fish, something he shared with many in his family over the years. Papaw to his grandkids and a talented harmonica player, Richard was certainly memorable. Those that knew Richard and loved him will not soon forget his many antics and he will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Joshua Ohler of Lumberton, Rebekah Robinson and husband Rusty of Orange, and Damien Price of Louisiana; his siblings, Pat Burris and husband Loran of Nebraska, Tim Ohler of Montana, Jeff Ohler of Nebraska, Pam Potthast and husband Thomas of Nebraska; his grandchildren, Brittney Smith and husband Jacob of Orange, Haleigh Bryant and husband Caleb of Vidor, James Stark and fiancé Brooklynn of Orange, and Gavin Stark of Orange; his great-grandchildren, Hallie, Billy, Braxston Smith, and Westin Bryant, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his grandchildren, Tristen Newman, and Tyler Stark; and his great-grandchild, Serena Smith.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wade Earl, Gavin Stark, James Stark, Jacob Smith, Carlos Rico, and Damien Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Thilliet and Billy Thilliet.
