Priscilla Ann Fontenot Manganice Sanders “Prissy” died peacefully at Focus Care at Summer Place Nursing Home in Beaumont, Texas on March 30, 2021 at the age of 72.
She was born to Wanda Harrington and Abbie Fontenot in Port Arthur, Texas. She was named after her maternal grandmother, Priscilla Brown Harrington who died the year before she was born. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas.
Prissy worked for Luby’s Cafeteria in Jefferson City Shopping Center in Port Arthur. She also worked at Hill’s Day Care Center in Houston, Payless Shoe Source, Service Merchandise and Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
She was a strong, independent woman who knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to tell you. She never met a stranger. She was passionate about and collected owls and carousels. She loved going to Larry’s Ole Trade days where she would never come home empty handed. She loved her Dallas Cowboys and proudly wore her T-shirts on game day. She enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and Wheel of Fortune.
Prissy never gave up after her stroke. She fought through many medical obstacles over the years but never lost her faith in God. She loved her family and cherished her friends. She enjoyed eating gumbo and seafood. She loved her snacks, including chocolate covered cherries, chips and chips and more chips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and Abbie Fontenot, and her godmother, Dorothy Harrington Junot.
She is survived by her Aunt Addie Fontenot Thibodeaux, her goddaughter, Jeanice Garrison and a host of cousins on both her mother’s and father’s side. A special thanks to her cousin Diane Junot Rafdal for her love, devotion and caring support during the many years after her stroke.
Prissy’s family would like to express their heartfelt love and appreciation to all of the staff at Cypress Glenn Nursing Home in Port Arthur and Summer Place Nursing Home in Beaumont. And special thanks to Altus Hospice for their comfort care during the last days of her life.
A celebration of her life will be held at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main Street, Lumberton, Texas on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
