Peggy June Root, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 6, 2023, at 80 years young. She was born on April 18, 1943, in Mayfield, KY, to J.B. Dublin Sr. and Carlene Wiggins Dublin.
To know her was to be loved by her. Peggy was one of the most social people one could ever meet, and she made friends literally everywhere she went. If she was in the hospital, you could be sure that several of the nurses were already her friends. She possessed a rare gift – the ability to make everyone around her feel seen and valued.
Peggy is survived by her loving children, Anna Hackler and husband Bruce Hackler, and Angela Lormand. She was a cherished grandmother to Kayla Martinez, Madison Robinson and husband Brock Robinson, Remington Carbaugh, Cameron Lormand and fiancé Katie Gillard, and Carson Lormand and fiancée Taylor Harbison. Peggy was also a proud great-grandmother to Daryl, Valerie, Kimber, Kennedy, and Quinn. Her loyal companion, her dog Jazz, brought her immense joy.
Peggy had a passion for life, and her love for dancing was infectious. She could often be found dancing with her grandson, Cameron.
Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela, her husband, George Root, her parents, her sisters, her brother, and many cherished animals.
Peggy's warmth, kindness, and love will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and the joy of dance.
A memorial service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Anna's Angels Dog Rescue in Peggy’s memory. She loved animals and would be delighted for people to donate to help save lives, as she did so many times in the past.
