Peggy Morgan Obituary

Catfish Cabin lost a loyal customer on July 11, 2021. Mike and Peggy ate there on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. Peggy Morgan, 77, of Lumberton, went home to be with the Lord this past Sunday. She was born in Beaumont, TX, on January 29, 1944, to Geraldine Hooks.

Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Mike Morgan, and celebrated fifty-four years and 10 months of marriage. They loved spending all their time together and trying new places to eat. You never had to guess what Peggy was thinking; she was straight-forward and would let you know what her opinion was, especially when it came to the best restaurants. She never met a stranger and welcomed anyone into her home.

Peggy attended French High School, where she was in the Buffalo Belle’s Drill Team and graduated in 1962. She enjoyed her French High School friends at their annual get-togethers. She went to work as an elementary teacher in 1967 while overseas and retired from Lumberton ISD in 1997.  She looked forward to the monthly luncheons with her retired teacher friends.

Peggy led a very Christian life and was a charter member of Crestwood Baptist Church since 1980. She enjoyed her Sunday School class and was always eager to hear God’s word. She kept a list near her computer of people she would pray for daily, then she would play her computer games.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband, Mike Morgan; daughter, Melissa Logan and husband, Richard; son, Adam Morgan and wife Lori; sisters, Dinea Smith and husband, John, Suzette Ross and husband, Wesley; grandchildren, Kyra Johnson, Alex Johnson, Zaylie Morgan, Aiken Morgan, Ireland Morgan, Ashley Rains and husband, Keifer, Austin Crites, and numerous step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Her family would like to give gratitude and thankfulness to the ICU floor at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, for the endearing and supportive care provided to Peggy during her final days here on Earth. Especially on Sunday, when the family was able to be with her, until the angels came to lead her to home to paradise, where she awaits the day that she is reunited with her loved ones.
