Patti Marie (Kay) Kunst

Patti Marie (Kay) Kunst, 61, of Beaumont, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Patti was born in Newton, TX on January 24, 1960, to Russell Bruce Kay and Joelene Sims, the youngest of the 3 girls that Momma Joelene raised, Patti went to be with her Momma in heaven.

Her passing was unexpected for those of us here on Earth, but they probably knew she was coming in Heaven. A little heads up might be in order for her arrival, because she can be a handful. But the Lord knows her heart was always, always as good as gold.

She was occasionally loud, often outspoken, and always fiercely protective of her extended family and sometimes that rubbed people the wrong way. She would often pretend she didn’t care what people thought of her, but it wasn’t hard to see through her façade. In reality, she cared deeply.

She tried to live every day to the extent possible with her circumstances and her health, even when she could hardly draw a decent breath. She never stopped trying. She tried hard, y’all…

We love you, Patti.. Always will.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, JoAnn Hansen and husband Henry, Pam Whittington and husband Lannis “Bubby”; her brother, Charles Michael Newman; her nieces and nephews; Amanda Hansen, Travis Hansen and wife Beth, Chasity Noel and husband Justin, Wendy Dorman and husband Brandon, Brandi Whittington, and Haliegh Bryant and husband Caleb; her great-nieces and nephews, Frederick Deets, Scotty Grace, Brett Noel, Carley Dorman, Colin Dorman, and Cooper Dorman; as well as numerous friends and loved ones.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Kay and Joelene Newman; her nephew, Tristen Newman; and great nephew, Spencer Hansen.

Serving as pallbearers are John Deets, Brandon Dorman, Colin Dorman, Danny Holden, Darren Rogers, and Tony Terry; honorary pallbearers Cooper Dorman and Frederick Deets.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 1:30-2:30PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow and begin at 2:30PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lewis Chapel Cemetery off of FM363 in Bleakville, TX.
