Onesima Wilson Obituary

Mrs. Onesima Adao Wilson, 66, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2021. Onesima was born and raised in Malino in Samar, Philippines with her eight brothers and sisters. Born on Saturday, May 28, 1955, to Joaquin Adao and Ana Lopinac Adao, Onesima was always playing with her siblings and cousins. Onesima was somewhat reserved as a child and until she met the love of her life, Robert, shortly after turning 18, Onesima had not really considered leaving the home she loved so dearly. After meeting Robert while he was serving in the US Marines and stationed at Subic Bay, Onesima and Robert were married on January 31, 1976, in the Philippines. Sharing more than 43 years with Robert before his passing in June of 2019, Onesima was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Family was always central to Onesima and to her, her children were everything. Robert and Onesima had four children together: Robert Allen Wilson III, Joaquin Thomas Wilson, Nancy Ann (Wilson) Smith, and Jeffery Lee Wilson. Her unconditional love for her children was something that each of them will be able to carry with them for their entire lives. Onesima never hesitated to do what was best for her family, from raising her children to at times working multiple jobs to help make sure everything was taken care of; to say she was a strong woman would be an understatement. Onesima was a woman of many talents and passions; she loved to make eggrolls or cook her yummy fried rice, at times even selling them to help support her boy’s baseball teams or just simply to make them to give to family or friends. She also loved to crochet blankets; her children still have many that she made when they were just babies, items that they can clearly see the love and devotion of their mother in. Onesima valued being a wife and mother above all, and when the day came that she became a grandmother- her joy at this newest blessing and role was truly overwhelming. She was always there for others and was very compassionate about those she loved. Onesima often found that the best medicine in life was laughter, and her funny personality certainly made that easy to come by. To say she will be missed doesn’t do justice to the beautiful life she had and the legacy of love she leaves with all who knew her. Onesima’s love and memory will live on in the lives of all that she knew, and she will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert Wilson III and wife Kathy, Joaquin Wilson and wife Dell, Jeffery Lee Wilson, and Nancy Ann Smith and husband Bobby Smith Jr.; her grandchildren: Nadyne Wilson, Jordan Smith, Faith Smith, Megan Wilson, Eve Wilson, and Elias Wilson; her siblings: Beatriz Cabarrius, Anastacia Dacabo, Artemio Adao, Ellena Resolis, Constancio Adao, Luciana Lestino, and Rodolfo Adao; of course, her well-loved and favorite grand-dog Kaine; as well as many friends, loved ones, and extended family members.

Onesima is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Allen Wilson Jr.; her parents Joaquin Adao and Ana Lopinac Adao; and her sister Teresita Jordan.
