Obert F. Blaisdell

Obert Frank, 73, left this world and into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Obert entered this world on September 24, 1947, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Herman Frank Blaisdell and Gertha Ellen Tucker.  

Obert attend schools in Chance Loeb, Texas, and graduated from Silsbee, Texas.  Obert served as Boatswain Mate in the US Navy aboard the Sixth Fleet Flagship USS Little Rock.  After serving his military obligation, he attended and graduated from the Department of Public Safety in Austin, Texas, as a Highway Patrol stationed in Zavala, Texas.  In November 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Lynn Webb of Silsbee, Texas.  Returning to his hometown of Lumberton, Texas, he began working for Alton Hughes Security at Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.  After about six years, Obert left and went to work for the police department of Lamar University, working himself up from patrolman to Assistant Chief and Director of Parking.  Obert retired from Lamar in 2012 and had served as a Peace Officer for 47 years.

Obert loved to hunt and fish and sports.  He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy Fan.  He and Donna loved to travel and did so until his health started declining.

Obert was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, one son, Barry Glenn Blaisdell and daughter-in-love, Michelle McCow, two grandchildren, Ciara Rainn Blaisdell and Gunnar Gage Blaisdell, three sisters, Shirley Lamey Holland (Henry), Bertha Lamey Lanier, and Gertha Lamey White, three nieces, 4 nephews, 2 great nieces, 4 great nephews, Mother-in-Love, Geraldine Buxton Webb, and Sister-Love, Paula Webb Stevens (Mark).

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657. A life honoring graveside service where Obert will be laid to rest will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St. Beaumont, 77703.
