O. G. King Jr.

Owen Gideon (O.G.) King Jr., age 86, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024. He was born in Abilene, TX, on November 16, 1937, to Owen Gideon King Sr. and Blanche Wilson King.

O.G. enjoyed having a good time; whether it was watching the game while enjoying a cheap can of Busch, enjoying another concert at The Golden Nugget, or going to the boats, he was all in and havin’ fun. Those who knew him, knew he was a Landry Era Cowboy fan, then settled for the Oilers and finally the Texans, and if it wasn’t football season, then it was the Astros, he loved his sports. O.G. and Pat loved going on cruises together, eventually earning “Gold Member” status with the cruise line! He earned local legend status as a radio announcer and DJ, and many who never even met him would recognize his many Market Basket radio spots. He loved his cats, especially “Wubbzy” who up to O.G.’s last days would be found getting up into the hospital bed to comfort and be comforted.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia (Pat) Ann Kling King; son, Kevin Owen King and wife Alexia; grandchildren, Morgan King, Mason King, Camden King, and Carson Lafitte; sister-in-law, Carolyn King; as well as many friends, and loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his parents, and siblings, Jimmy King, Norman King, Ann Jo Miller, and Barbara June Dougherty.
