Norman Chase III Obituary

Norman “Normy” Leonidas Chase III, 63, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Norman was born on September 9, 1957 in Beaumont, Texas to his parents Juna Belle Doors Chase and Norman Leonidas Chase II. Growing up in Beaumont, Norman was a true Texan and a woodsman through and through- from running around with his brothers and his sister playing and exploring to standing watch for hours in his beloved stands hunting deer. When it came to the outdoors there was little that Norman couldn’t do and he loved every minute spent exploring or indulging in his loves of hunting and fishing. His gun collection was a point of pride for Norman who avidly believed in his 2nd Amendment Rights and was quick to warn every boy who ever came calling on his girls that he “could shoot the eyes off a spider at 700 yards.” Be it a casual game of golf with friends or a circle around a campfire to share stories and laughs, Norman was always someone you enjoyed being around and his infectious whistling laugh. Norman was perhaps most proud of his legacy and the loves of his life, his two girls. Juna and Jena grew up knowing the meaning of being loved and Norman made sure to work each day towards his one major goal in life- making sure his girls felt loved enough. Papa to his grandbabies and Uncle Normy to his nieces and nephews, Norman was a true family man who took every opportunity to indulge and spoil the children; just ask Adiline about her tea parties! A loyal friend and a man with a truly big heart, there was nothing Norman wouldn’t do for someone in need. Always looking for the next fun moment or adventure, Norman was ready to try most anything as long as his day could end with his bowl of vanilla Bluebell Ice Cream. Softball held a special place in Norman’s life, playing more than 20 years on local rec teams and 10 years with his daughter Jena. Norman truly loved life and lived it wide open always looking to live, love, and laugh. His character and love will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Jena Haygood and husband Matthew of Beaumont, and Juna Smith and husband David of Beaumont; his ex-wife, Venitia Chase of Kirbyville; his sister-in-law, Janey Riley; his brother-in-law, Ben Miller; his grandchildren: Adiline Smith, Beau McKinley, Henley Haygood, Vivianne Smith, and Alleigh Smith; his nieces and nephews: Travis Chase and wife Phyllis, Donald Chase Jr. and wife Sheila, Hollee Chase McCay, Malea Miller, Chase Miller, Tommy Chase Jr. and wife Jennilea, and Tammie Tweedel and husband Danny; his 11 great nieces and nephews; and a plethora of dear friends and buddies.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Juna Belle Doors Chase and Norman Leonidas Chase II; his siblings: Tommy Chase, Donnie Chase and wife Rita, Ronnie Chase, and Candace Miller; his granddaughter Baileigh Smith; and his nephew Ron Chase Jr.
