Michael Ross Peckham

Michael Ross Peckham, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2023. He was born in Beaumont, TX, on May 24, 1952, to Jay Roy and Patricia Hutchinson Peckham.

Michael had a deep abiding faith in God and his merciful saving grace.  His faith guided his life. He attended Lamar University while working full time at Mobil and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He went on to work at Enterprise Products Company in Mont Belvieu and Morgans Point for 30 + years as a chemist and applications supervisor. Michael was a member of the Gas Processors Association and taught classes at the annual GPA midstream technical conference for 10 years. He enjoyed teaching and valued the friendships he made there. Michael enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing, and was an active volunteer leader with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts while his sons participated, and for several years after. He loved the beach and spending time there with his family as often as possible. He got his first motorcycle when he was a teenager. He enjoyed long cross-country rides as a young man.  In his older years, he and his wife took many Saturday morning rides on Southeast Texas backroads, stopping at small town diners for lunch. He could fix just about anything. From replacing a breaker box, to locating and repairing an underground water leak, installing tile, and laminate flooring, to golf cart and appliance repair, he was never afraid to try. He considered hard work a virtue and always had some type of project in the works. 

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Peckham of Lumberton, TX; sons, Matthew Ross Peckham of Lumberton, TX, Thomas Robinett and wife, Francesca, of Austin, TX, and Jason Robinett and wife, Samantha, of Austin, TX; brother, Rick Peckham and wife, Diane, of Allentown, PA; sister, Pam Heiman and husband, Dwight, of Kerrville, TX; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; as well as many extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Michael's life honoring memorial service will be Sunday, August 13, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Voth Baptist Church, 11245 Church Rd. Beaumont, TX 77713.
