Maverick Lane Obituary

 Maverick Lane

1961 - 2019

Maverick Lynn Lane, age 58, passed away on October 4, 2019. He was born in Beaumont, TX on September 17, 1961 to Leroy Lane and Tommie Jack Williams Lane.

A simple, devoted man, Maverick was never an outspoken or complicated person, cherishing the simple things in life. For the character of his commitment to the people he loved and the things he believed in, there was no need for words; if you knew Maverick, you felt what drove him. Named after the Western TV Series “Maverick”, all his life he claimed that he had to fight for that name and lived up to it. At a tent revival in his youth, he met a young lady, Rebecca; he knew then, even though she may not have been aware, that he was absolutely smitten. Intent on following his heart and by utilizing his ability to fix things, Maverick was able to help her in fixing her car one day, and from then until his last breath, she would be his “Dear”. After receiving the blessing of their pastor, Rev. Stanley, they married in 1989 on Valentine’s Day. Starting a family together, they raised their son, Christopher, and later, on the day that he cracked the biggest smile of his life, were blessed with a daughter, Courtney. He worked hard for his family: working weekends with his mentor, “Papa John”, to help provide and spending two years building a home for his family. If asked, work was his hobby, though when he was not working in his HVAC career, most of Maverick’s free time was devoted to his passion for racing, and many weekends were spent at car shows, swap meets, and the racetrack. An exceptional mechanic, he loved to build race cars, even building a car for his daughter, Courtney, in whom he had instilled a love for racing and driving. As he left this world, the last words on his lips were reminding words of love to his wife and daughter. Though his life’s race is over, Maverick’s memory will always have a place in the heart of his family and friends.

Left to honor his memory is loving wife of 29 years, Rebecca Rogers Lane; daughter, Courtney Lane of Lumberton, TX; son, Christopher Rogers of Dallas, TX; father figure and second dad, John Alexander, whom he endearingly referred to as “Papa John”; and numerous extended family, friends and loved ones.

Preceding Maverick in death are his parents.
