Mary Catherine (Gallier) Henson

Mary Catherine Henson, age 86, left this life on June 15, 2022. She was born in Beaumont, TX on February 24, 1936 to Raphael Anthony and Emily Louise Arnold Gallier.

A selfless, loving woman, Mary was beautiful on the inside and out. With a heart of devotion and a humble spirit filled with love that was unmatched, she lived for others; she lived for her family; and she lived her faith. She just wanted everyone else to be happy. During her time working at a trucking distribution center in the office, though she was not sure why he waited so long, a young man, Gene, asked her out for a movie. From there, a love would spark and burn ever brighter and more enduring for the next 65 years. Until the very last of his breaths, they were truly one, and it showed in his dedication to her and her care for him. To Mary, family was the most important thing in her life, none knew this better than her children. She was very clean, even more organized, and liked things the way she had carefully placed. Should something happen to be moved in her home, she would make sure it was returned to its previous position. She collected trinkets, most of them given to her by family, from birds to pigs, swans to whatever else made her happy. Mary’s green thumb was unique, and even in winter she could bring flowers and plants to bloom with life. As a mother and homemaker, the cleanliness of her home was outmatched only by her ability to turn the simplest meals into mouthwatering delights; Mom’s touch made tacos, spaghetti, and chocolate cake special. Mary was a pure, good person, no description is enough in the end; it was felt. Though she is passed from this Earth, her spirit will live on in the beauty and joy she leaves in the hearts of those that loved her.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Bobby G. Henson Jr. and wife, Dory, of Tacoma, WA and Michael Henson and wife, Barbara, of Vidor, TX; daughter, Donna Zuniga and husband, Brian K. Foley, of Tacoma, WA; brothers, Ray “Buddy” Gallier and wife, Alene, of Beaumont, TX, Albert Gallier and wife, Gene, of Federal Way, WA, and Julian “Skeet” Evans and wife, Barbara, of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Sara K. Richardson and husband, Pete, Shanna R. Lisenby and partner, Kyle, Brandon Zuniga, Jonathan Zuniga, Kristian Henson, Elizabeth Henson, Brandye Henson, and Bobby Henson III; great-grandchildren, Mia Richardson, Samuel Richardson, Quentin Haynes, Keegan Ardion, Karter Ardion, Dayton, Addison, and Vince; favorite “pup dogs” and adopted grandchildren, “Roxy”, “Apollo”, and “Glacier”, and kitty cat, “Hope”; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Mary Catherine is preceded in death by her soulmate and husband, Bobby G. Henson Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Richard Wayne Gallier and Joe Linton Jr, and great-granddaughter, Riley Renee Lisenby.

Visitation with family and friends will be 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, at Christ Community Church, 4125 N Main St, Vidor, TX 77662. Mary’s life honoring service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., also at the church, with Pastor Anna Armstrong officiating.
