Martha A. Sieben

Martha Ann Sieben, 78, a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, passed away at a family home in Kountze, Texas  surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  Martha was born on June 28, 1940 to Robert and Edna Cardin in Oakland City, Indiana.  Martha had a childhood friend, Janet, who would introduce her to Merle Sieben; Martha and Merle would enjoy 59 years and 11 months of marriage.  Merle and Martha met on a Tuesday and never missed a single day seeing each other, except for work, and they would marry 7 months later.  Martha worked over 20 years at the hardware store.  She enjoyed gardening and reading; she would take books and read them to shut-ins and folks at nursing homes.  Martha loved her family and was proud of her 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and her 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Martha is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Taylor; her twin sister, Roberta Driggs; a sister, Carolyn David; and a lifelong friend, Michael Burnett.

Martha is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Merle Sieben; sons, Chatman Sieben, and wife Laura, and their daughter, Josie, Clinton Sieben, and wife Judy, and their daughter, Jeannie Lichtsinn, and her husband, Joe, and Bryan Sieben, and wife Pam, and their sons, Keith Sieben and wife Meaghen, and their daughters, Kaydence and Jemma, Daren Sieben, and wife Courtney; a brother, DeWayne Cargil and wife Joann; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Darrell Sieben, and wife, Phyllis; and a lifelong friend, Ruthie Burnett.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Chapel at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, there will be a Prayer Service at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sour Lake, Texas.  Interment will follow immediately at Pine Ridge Cemetery on Hwy 421 in Kountze, Texas.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Keith Sieben, Daren Sieben, Tim Sieben, Matt Sieben, Cody Laird, and Kerry Trest.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Dillard, Darrell Sieben, Jake Koehl, Jonathan Erickson, and Tyler Warren.
