Marguerite (Sullivan) Rice

Marguerite Sullivan Rice, 85, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015. When she was young her father died so she had to go to work to help her mother provide for the family.  She worked on the PTA and served as a home room mother. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was seeing her children grow up with children of their own.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, computer solitaire and family board games. When she could, she loved dressing up and going dancing. She enjoyed being elegant and always dressed fashionable. She loved to have her hair done and wear her high heels.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Sullivan; siblings, Charles Frederick, Jr., Franklin Sullivan, Laverne Sullivan; son, Timothy Jay Thomason.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Bill Rice of Lumberton; children, Gloria Thomason Ransom and husband J.D. of Haughten, LA, John Paul Thomason II and wife Lisa of Temple, TX, Joel Anthony Thomason and wife Alice of Buford, GA, Lesa Marguerite Peysen and husband Harold of  Wichita Falls, TX, Joel Rice and wife Jennifer of Lumberton, John Rice and wife Jamieof Lumberton, and Brandon Rice and wife Deborah of Lumberton; grandchildren, Robin Michelle Butler and husband Greg of Kyle, TX, Timothy Thomason of Round Rock, TX, Tamara Thomason of Austin, Jason Thomason and wife Edith of Temple, TX, Angel Peysen Wilson and husband Burk of Wichita Falls, TX, Charity Peysen of Wichita Falls, TX, Jacalyn Thomason of Monroe, N.C., Heather Cox and husband Steven of Lumberton, Bo Rice of Lumberton, Kellie Rice and husband Karl of Kountze, Johnny Rice and wife Amanda of Lumberton; great grandchildren, Haley Butler, Philip Butler, Abby Butler, Harley Thomason, Harper Thomason, Harmon Thomason, Kristi Thomason, Nicole Thomason, Richard Thomason, Isaiah Thomason, Tanyla Thomason, Jayden Thomason, Phoenix Wilson, Sterling Wilson and Nathan Thomason, Ty Cox, Tanner Cox, Malbry Veazy, Clay Rice, Joey Rice, Karl Hardy, Brynleigh Rice, Jasmine Rice and Brandon Rice, Weston Rice, Hallie Rice, Grayson Tucker and Hayden Tucker; siblings William Marian Sullivan of Bismarck, Ark., Jimmy Lee Sullivan and wife Jean of Hope, Ark., Jerry Rowland Sullivan and wife Joyce of Arkadelphia, Ark., Shirley Ann Cooper of Gum Springs, Ark.; half-sister, Myrtle Irwin Ferguson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. The funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Lumberton, officiated by Reverend Kevin McClusky. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Rice, Brandon Rice, J.D. Ransom, John Paul Thomason, Joel Thomason and Greg Butler.
