Margie "Memaw" Bertrand

 Margie “Memaw” Bertrand, 51, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Kountze. Margie was born in Beaumont on February 11, 1970 to Joseph Marion Bertrand and Brenda Gayle Poole.

A nurturing, devoted nature guided the motives and roles of her life on this Earth. She was a great friend, an unrestrictive caregiver, and a mother that poured love into her children. God blessed her with four, yet her home was open to many, because Margie cared. Though sweet, she was strong, telling those she loved her thoughts, or what she may have thought they needed to hear, always with her own brand of kind wording. Her family mattered; and she was a faithful, committed sister and daughter. With a sharp mind and business savvy, she worked hard and strived for success in any endeavor. When she became a “Memaw”, a new love was born for her grandchildren that built upon the foundation of love she already possessed for her children. She enjoyed horses and coffee, but nature beckoned her, the flowers, watching the birds and squirrels, and devoting as much time as she could to fishing. There are many that look past the wonderful simplicities of life’s blessings, but Margie lived for those blessings. Though she left this life to pass to the other side, she left a piece of her heart, and many special moments and precious memories, to remain and be cherished by her many loved ones.

Left to honor her memory is her mother, Brenda Gayle Shriner; her children, Joe Chapman and fiancée, Melody Bouley, Rachel Walters and husband, Correy, Patreya Tilly, and Joilette Puente; siblings, Brandy Braneff and husband, Justin, Tara Martin and husband, Darrell, Chasity Roberts and husband, Coby, Bonnie Humberson and husband Vincent, Nathaniel Shriner and wife, Ashley, and Hannah Shriner; her grandchildren, Landon Chapman, Elizabeth Walters, Elijah Walters, Jaylee Utsey, Jaylon Utsey, Jayden Butler, and Harmony Carey; and numerous extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding her in death is her father, Joseph Marion Bertrand.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gateway Church 1600 US-69, Kountze, TX 77625. will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10 AM, also at the church, with son-in-law Bro. Correy Walters officiating. Her burial and graveside committal will follow at Williamson Cemetery, Vidor, TX at 1:00 PM.
