Mack Lamar McGough

Mack Lamar McGough, 82, of Village Mills, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born on March 8, 1944, in Troy, Alabama, to William McGough and Bunchie Harris.

He lived his life with a kindness that wasn’t loud or showy, it was steady and intentional, felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him. He looked for ways to help, to lift burdens, to make life a little easier for others; that was simply who he was. Naturally charismatic, he made people feel welcome in his presence. He was funny, quick to joke and prank. Though, every now and then, that old‑fashioned Irish temper would flare, but even that was part of his charm, honest and real. Family was the center of Mack’s world. He believed in protecting and in loving without hesitation. As a faithful big brother, he was dependable and steady. As a father and grandfather, he was devoted and unreservedly supportive. Mack was also a proud veteran, honored to serve his country. A Christian, Mack’s actions and compassion expressed his deep beliefs. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for the way he made people feel, supported and loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Chez McGough and Amber McGough; sons, Shawn McGough, Jon McGough and wife Elizabeth, and Jeramie McGough and wife Jackie; brother, Mark McGough; grandchildren, Katlyn McGough, Shayla Rushing, Anna Cravy, Akaysha McGough, Dawson McGough, Christopher McGough, Marcus McGough, Cayden McGough, and Jalynn McGough; great-grandchildren, Kamryn Martin, Oaklee Rushing, and Logan Cravy; and a host of extended family and friends. 

Preceding Mack in death are his parents; daughter, Heather McGough; and brother, Mike McGough. 

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Wildwood Community Church. Mack's life honoring funeral service will be Friday, September 4, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., also at the Wildwood Community Church with Rev. Clayton Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills, TX.
