Louise (Stevens) Mezger

Mable Louise Mezger, age 86, of Kountze, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024. She was born in Delight, AR, on July 12, 1938, to Alfred and Cleo Hutchinson Stevens.

She was a woman whose firm yet loving and kindhearted nature touched the lives of many. Though known for her intense honesty and occasional bluntness, her words always came from a place of love and care. She was a fighter who never knew how to give up, a trait that was forged in her early years as she took care of her brothers while her parents worked the cotton fields. As the only daughter in a family of six, she was the foreman among her brothers, guiding them with a firm yet caring hand. Louise was a servant at heart, spending most of her life working as a waitress and even opening her own place, Roadway Inn. Despite her small stature, she was a giant in faith. As a cornerstone of Gateway Church, she was affectionately known as the church mother. She could be seen at every service, praising the Lord with all her might, and outside of service, making her pastor feel special by always laughing at his jokes. When Louise needed to take a break, she would let you know by saying that "her t-y-r-d was taard." No matter how she felt, how frail she became, or how tired she was, she always raised her hands in praise to the Lord as high as her body would allow. Her faith and dedication were unwavering. Louise was proud of her family, and protective of them. A talented cook, her meatloaf, chili, and fried chicken were unforgettable. Her love and care extended beyond her family to everyone she met, making her a beloved figure in her community. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.

Left to honor her memory is her son, Jimmy Ray Carr and wife, Misty; daughter, Anita Mott and husband, Tim; brothers, John Stevens and wife, Elaine, Grady Stevens and wife, Mary Sue, Ricky Stevens and wife, Debbie, and Tommy Stevens and wife, Anna; grandchildren, James Carr and wife, Caity, Amanda Miranda, and Amber Rose and husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Hunter Rose, Emersyn Miranda, Rhianna Miranda, and Bailey Coborn; as well as a host of extended family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.

Preceding Louise in death are her parents; her husband, Adolf Mezger; and brother, J.C. Stevens.
