Linda Whisenant

Jimmie Linda Whisenant, age 82, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1943, in Lubbock, TX, to Harold and Rosalie Webb Jones.

A woman of quiet strength and boundless generosity, Linda embodied toughness and sweetness in perfect harmony. She was the tie that bound her family together, a steady presence who loved deeply and fought fiercely for those she held close. She never complained, no matter the challenge, facing each day with unwavering grace. Linda met the love of her life, Lowell, in the eighth grade. Their union was meant to be, and they journeyed through life, together and inseparable, in love and joined in soul. Just days after graduating high school, they wed on June 3, 1962. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she crafted meals with love and ensured no visitor ever left hungry. Her full spreads at supper were legendary, and her pumpkin rolls, baked goods, and sweets became anticipated treats for all who were lucky enough to visit "Momma Lin." Linda had a passion for cooking, often immersing herself in cooking shows that played throughout the day, with occasional breaks for CSI and HGTV. She devoted herself to her husband, caring for him with unwavering dedication, and she was the very definition of a homemaker who made a house into a warm, welcoming home. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and lessons will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Linda Whisenant was more than a beloved wife, mother, and friend; she was the soul of her family, and her kindness and strength will never be forgotten.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Clay Whisenant and wife, Kristi, and Troy Whisenant and wife, Lisa; daughter, Tina Hubbard and husband, Larry; brother, Michael Jones and wife, Margaret; sister, Royce McGuire; grandchildren, Callie LeBlanc and husband Matt, Kate Shepherd and husband, Peter, Shawna Hubbard, Kenzie Hubbard, Josh Hubbard and wife, Christina, Kandice Gordon and husband, Jacob, Troy Whisenant and wife, Monica, Tayla Whisenant, Tarra Millican and husband, Brady, Wyatt Martin and wife, Lucy, and Ely Whisenant; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Linda in death is her beloved husband, Lowell Duane Whisenant; great grandson, Jimmy Duane Whisenant; and brother in law, Tommy McGuire.
