Linda Mae (Foret) Baxter, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Linda was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on June 28,1947 to Joseph Paul Foret and Bertha Guidry.
Linda was a natural caregiver following in her mother’s footsteps. She would always be the shoulder to cry on when needed and she would just as soon turn those tears into a smile. Linda’s family was truly the most precious thing in her life, and there was not a single thing she wouldn’t do for them. From the time she was a child she had already developed a sense of maternal instincts from caring for her large family, and the appreciation was shown from her brothers by providing her with so much fresh shrimp that she got sick of it. Linda never wavered in her dedicated and hardworking mission to provide for her family. Alongside working as a janitor for 20 years, she would also find time to clean at home and make her famous chicken and dumplings, or fried chicken and shrimp salad for everyone to enjoy. Linda was known for her straightforwardness and with her “matter of fact” attitude, you would never have to be unsure of how she felt. She loved to share her creativity through quilting and crocheting as well as crafting many items. In 2019 Linda and her family took a dream vacation to Hawaii, and created memories of such beauty, they could only be paralleled by the scenery that surrounded them. Linda was an incredibly selfless woman who impacted many lives. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved for years to come and she will not be soon forgotten.
Left to cherish her memory is her younger sister Janice Foret; son Eric Babin and wife Tracy; daughter Julie Williams and husband Stacey, and grandchildren Josie Sininger and husband Justin, Erica Babin, Cade Babin, Justin Williams, and Layton Williams.
Preceding Linda in death are her siblings Joseph Paul Foret Jr, Robert Foret, James Foret, Richard Foret, Barbara Welch, Howard Foret, and Teresa Tuohy; and parents Joseph Paul Foret and Bertha Foret.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Lumberton Family Funeral Home and Memorial Services are pending at this time.
