Leland Webb Obituary

Leland Marshall Webb, 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Leland was born on June 21, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas. Born and raised in Port Arthur, Leland eventually met his wife, Wanda, in 1965 after his time of service in the US Army. While boxing and enjoying the sights that the military life afforded him during his stations in Colorado and Hawaii, Leland found nothing like Texas. A lifelong career as a construction electrician and a proud member of the IBEW 479 in Beaumont, there can be no doubt that Leland was a hardworking man. Throughout his life a love of football, baseball and of course boxing was prevalent; when Leland wasn’t working, he was likely enjoying one of these sports- from playing in the younger years to spectating in the later. A reserved but loving man, Leland had a consistent Faith that was a strong central focus of Leland’s life. His service to his church home of Lumberton Church of Christ as an elder, deacon, teach, and song leader over the years certainly demonstrated that faith. Leland was a providing partner for his family and could always be depended on to help when asked. While a good provider, a good husband, and a hard worker might all describe Leland- nothing captured Leland’s heart quiet like his grandchildren and undoubtedly the best parts of Leland were most easily expressed in their company. Leland led a life of quiet consistency that many strive for in the chaotic world today, and his legacy and modeling of that will not soon be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory is his beautiful wife, Wanda; his daughters, Amanda Darby and husband Doug of Lubbock, TX, and Melanie Webb of Austin, TX; his brother, Otis Edwin Webb of Trinity, TX; his sisters, Joyce Holder of Trinity, TX,  and Linda Faughn and husband Kenny of Spring, TX; his grandchildren, Drew Darby and wife Samantha  of Lubbock, TX, Emma Darby of Abilene, TX and Matthew Darby of Abilene, TX; and his great grandson, Austin Darby of Lubbock, TX.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mabel Webb.
