Laurie Young Obituary

Laurie Allen Young, age 59, of Lumberton, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was born on February 11, 1966, in High Point, NC to Miley Edwin Allen and Grace Argo Allen.

She moved to Southeast Texas in 1977 with her mother and brother. She joined Trinity United Methodist Church that same year, beginning a lifelong connection to the church community she loved.

Laurie attended Beaumont–Charlton Pollard High School and completed her studies in 1984. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and later her teaching certificate from Lamar University.

Laurie married Aaron Young in 1996. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a woman whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. She poured her heart into raising her daughters, Desirée and Madeline, encouraging their interests, supporting their activities, and filling their childhood with nightly story time, birthday parties, and unwavering love. She served as a room mom at Trinity United Methodist and believed in showing up for others in meaningful ways — handwritten notes, thoughtful gestures, and steady presence.

She loved music, dancing, sewing, quilting, Bunco nights, her pets (especially Chester), and traveling — especially to the beach or on cruises. Being a transplant from North Carolina, she eventually came to enjoy Tex‑Mex cuisine, even if her first tamale experience left her puzzled.

Laurie faced significant health challenges with courage, humor, and remarkable strength. Through every hardship, she continued to love deeply, connect genuinely, and brighten the lives of those around her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Aaron Young; daughters, Desirée Elizabeth Young and Madeline Grace Young and fiancé, Jason Ryan Arellano; brother, David Emmett Allen and wife, Michelle; nephews, Bryant Allen, Sammy Allen, Austin Young, and Camden Young; nieces, Georgia Allen and Cryslynn Young; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Chester.

Laurie was one of a kind — loyal, joyful, authentic, and full of heart. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
