Larry "PawPaw" Bryan Obituary

Mr. Larry “PawPaw” Wayne Bryan, 74, of Buna passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Larry was born on Thursday, May 29, 1947, in Zavalla, Texas to Earl Bryan and Etta Rose Lee (Lakey) Bryan.

Larry was a man of few words, who had the kind of determined work-ethic that you just don’t see much these days. A devoted husband to his late wife, Linda, and loving father to his two daughters- nothing gave Larry as much joy as his family. When later in life, Larry gained the title of “PawPaw” his love of his grandchildren and especially his great-grandson could be matched by none.

Over the course of Larry’s life, he had many roles that gave him pride; a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with pride in the United States Air Force, a journeyman electrician and supervisor, and of course his most prominent title of jack-of-all-trades. There was nothing that Larry couldn’t do if he put his mind to it. A hard worker, Larry knew when it was time to get the job done and never complained a day in his life about doing what needed doing to take care of his family. However, whenever he got the opportunity Larry could be found pursuing his two favorite hobbies- fishing and hunting; just don’t bother asking him which he preferred, because the answer was whatever season it currently was.

A man of his word and extremely smart, Larry was a man worth listening to when he decided to speak up, and he made some of the best homemade wine you’ve ever had. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and family stewardship that will not soon be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Laurie Honea and boyfriend Edward Clakley, and Lea Bryan; his grandchildren: Kristina Honea and boyfriend Trent Allen, James Ray Honea and wife Racheal, Shelby Murphy, and Jacob Murphy; his great-grandson, Gavin Moore; his sister, Lynette Hopkins Barks and Damien Grisham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and co-workers throughout the many years.

Larry is preceded in death by beloved wife, Linda Carol (Hopkins) Bryan; his parents, Earl Bryan and Etta Rose Lee (Lakey) Bryan; and his brothers: Eugene Bryan and wife Ina, Beauford Bryan, and Robert Bryan and wife Ruthie.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Riceland Hospice for their exceptional compassion and care of Larry while he was home.
