Larry Thomas Ledet

Larry Thomas Ledet, 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Oak Groves Nursing Care Facility in Groves, Texas.

Larry was the fourth of eight children born to Douglas and Lucille Ledet, in Port Arthur, Texas on April 5, 1953. He became part of a very loving family.  At a very young age, his intelligence was evident as he excelled in school. Larry was Salutatorian of his 1971 East Chambers High School graduating class in Winnie.  He then went on to graduate from Lamar University in Beaumont with top honors and a degree in Accounting in 1975. While pursuing his degree, he also worked full- time jobs. Larry’s ambition and tenacity continued as he became a CPA and worked for private firms until joining Core Laboratories, as he worked his way up the ladder to Vice-President of Finance and traveled the world monitoring all their facilities. However, after a few years, the love of family took over and Larry decided to take time off from his profession to help his brother Paul, who was ill at the time. Larry moved Paul into his home and cared for him up until his passing.

Larry then went to work for Harris County as an auditor, but once again, his perseverance showed as he moved up through the ranks and was made Director of Revenue for Harris County until his retirement. Larry had a passion for the arts, travel, gardening, and loved to disco in his younger days. Every year, his Christmas decorations at his home were a sight to see and people would drive by in lines to admire them. He was a friend to many and was always there for anyone in his family who needed assistance.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Lucille Ledet; his siblings, Shirley Smart and Paul Ledet; his great niece, Charlotte Harrison; his great nephew, Avery Bushnell; and his nephew, Wesley Hampshire.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Beverly Franklin and husband Frank of Colorado City Texas; Wayne Ledet and wife Sharon of Lumberton Texas; Cathy Ledet of Midway Texas; Wanda Rayburn of Richmond Texas; and James (Jimmy) Ledet of Houston Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A life honoring memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:00PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657.
