Larry Don Johnson, 77, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Larry was born on March 17, 1944, in Big Springs, Texas. Larry was the type of happy-go-lucky man who never met a stranger and was always quick with a smile. Devoted to his loving wife, Virgie, and his family, Larry was always working hard to make sure they had everything they needed. With a gypsy soul, Larry was a wanderer who explored and moved around to most of the states in the United States at some point in his life. A man with a big heart, Larry absolutely loved his parents, Thomas and Mary Jenkins, and used the example they set for him to raise his own family over the years. When not working away, you might find Larry on the golf course or tennis court, but his main focus was always his ever-growing family. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and not soon forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife and partner in life, Virgie Mae Johnson of Lumberton; his children: Pamela Lynn Johnson of Elgin, Thomas Gene Johnson of Fort Worth, Larry Dean Johnson of Lumberton, and David Lee Johnson of Lumberton; his grandchildren: Kristin, Stetson, Mandy, Colton, Mikki, Macy, and Megan; and of course his 18 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous friends and extended family members.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gray Jenkins and Mary Juanita Jenkins; and his brother, Robert Gene Johnson.
To honor the life of Larry Johnson, the family will have a private memorial service.
