Kari Lynne Ellis, age 68, of Jasper, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born in Kansas City, KS, on October 5, 1954, to Otto John and Janice Pardew Kellerman.
Kari was many things to many people; a friend, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a colleague, and an animal lover, but no matter how you knew her, she was always kind, caring and compassionate. She was a hard worker and found many careers throughout her life, her favorite of which was reporting for The Jasper Newsboy. She volunteered at the Jasper animal shelter and work would often follow her home where any K-9 was welcome. She also served as Executive Director at JEDCO. Everything Kari did was impactful for her community and her friendships, always wishing to create positivity wherever she was. Although very active, Kari cherished her alone time where she could work on her art or enjoy a cheeseburger in peace, however, she would never mind spending time with her children or grandchildren with whom she shared many precious memories. Kari was truly a great woman and she brought nothing but goodness everywhere she went, her memory will live on in those whose lives she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Blane Ellis and wife, Amanda of Centreville, TX and John Ellis and wife, Bailey of Rosharon, TX; daughter, Cory Gaston and husband, William, of Jasper, TX; sisters, Joni Pate and husband Jim and Lori Erickson and husband, Rob; 4 grandchildren, Bryce Gaston, Logan Gaston, Paige Gaston, and Lilly Grace Ellis; nieces, Rachel Pate and Ashley Pyle; nephews, Matthew McNamara, Seth McNamara, Ben Pate, and Levi Pate; as well as many extended family members, friends, and loved ones.
Preceding Kari in death are her parents; step-father, Ken Pace; her infant daughter, Hannah; and nephews, Adam Kellerman-Pate and Josiah McNamara.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
